The garbage revolution

Disaster looms. The natural beauty of our country is under attack by the criminally negligent handling of our trash. The damages already done to our environment and health are terrible, and the consequences will remain obvious and visible for years to come. Our economy is circling the drain. The most generous estimate sees it growing by only a fraction of a percentage point for the current year, but the more realistic expectation is one of contraction. Unemployment is systemic, our youth see few opportunities in their futures, and those who can are preparing to leave if they haven’t done so already. The disparity between rich and poor has never been greater – poverty is at an all time high and the middle class is shrinking, all while the rich get richer. We can no longer protest peacefully without fear of police brutality. There is inequality in the provision and standards
