THE LEBANESE PRIVATE SECTOR DEMANDS A SEAT AT THE DECISION-MAKING TABLE
Lebanon’s private sector has long served as the backbone of economic activity, stepping in to fill the void left by a weak and often fragmented public sector. From agriculture and trade to finance and real estate, private enterprises have driven innovation, attracted investment, and provided critical services in the face of institutional inefficiencies.
This dynamic role has not only sustained key economic sectors but has also fostered a resilience and adaptability in a challenging environment. By leveraging entrepreneurship and global partnerships, the private sector continues to act as a vital force in shaping Lebanon’s economic future.
Given the private sector’s pivotal role in sustaining the economy, the Lebanese Private Sector Network (LPSN) puts forward their Policy Asks to the public sector and demands participation in political and economic decision making.
LPSN, with development support from the Lebanese Center for Policy Studies (LCPS) and editorial support from Executive, has compiled the Policy Asks that they require from the public sector. These demands are divided according to the following economic sectors: agriculture and agrofood, cultural and creative industries, forestry, healthcare, hospitality and tourism, industrial manufacturing, knowledge economy, real estate, and waste management. By publicizing these demands, the public sector is encouraged to work with experts in each sector toward implementing necessary policies that will allow the country to grow and succeed economically.
