As a psychiatrist, advocate, public health leader, and community organizer, I have a long personal and professional commitment to advancing health equity. I have worked in public health for over a decade, and currently serve as the Deputy Medical Director at the Office of Behavioral Health at NYC Health + Hospitals, the largest municipal health system in the United States. In 2012, I co-founded the Lebanese Medical Association for Sexual Health (LebMASH), and continue to serve on the organization’s board. Through landmark research, evidenced-based trainings, and informed advocacy, LebMASH has emerged as one of the most influential voices for health equity with LGBTQ+ and other marginalized groups in Lebanon and across the Arab region.
