Salim Daccache
Salim Daccache is the Rector of Saint Joseph University in Beirut. He holds a doctorate in Education Sciences with a thesis on values in Lebanese schools, defended at the University of Strasbourg (France) in 2011. He also holds a doctorate in Letters-Philosophy with a thesis on the Muslim kalam in the 10th century, defended at the University Panthéon-Sorbonne I in 1988. In addition to his position as Rector, he is President of the Association of Universities in Lebanon since 2020, full board member of the International Association of Universities (IAU) since 2016, editor of the Arabic cultural review Al-Machreq of the Society of Jesus since 1990 and Director of the Lebanese Group for Friendship and Christian-Muslim Dialogue (GLADIC). He holds a master’s degree in Theology and Philosophy from the Centre Sèvre – Facultés jésuite de Théologie et de Philosophie in France in 1983. He was ordained a priest on 9 April 1983 and has been a member of the Society of Jesus since 1975.
