Valerie is the co-founder and executive director of the New Producers for Sustainable Energy initiative (formerly known as the New Producers Group), a South-South peer-to-peer network of 22 new and emerging oil and gas producer countries. The Group aims for these countries to achieve sustainable and equitable development by designing their sectors with minimal growth in GHG and methane emissions while increasing prosperity and resilience in the transition. She is an expert on national oil companies, governance, and the energy transition, having published "Oil Titans: National Oil Companies in the Middle East" in 2006 and "Left Behind: Emerging Oil Producers in a Warming World." She also advises governments on navigating the energy transition and governance.
