Free Patriotic Movement leader Michel Aoun, Lebanese Forces chief Samir Geagea and Marada head Suleiman Frangieh have each spilled too much blood to be seen as a legitimate representative for all of Lebanon
Riad Salemeh has to also. if they shed our blood, we are also bleeding of Salemeh and his comrades economic policies.
The one candidate with the ability to reassert the position of the presidency is Riad Salameh, governor of Lebanon’s central bank for over two decades. This is not merely the opinion of this magazine, but that of the Lebanese populace
Then why are you marketing him? and who asked you or Ipsos to speak for Lebanese populace?
There can be no doubt that Salameh has kept his ear to the pulse of the Lebanese economy
You mean Bankers, Estate Developers, Monopolies, Oligopolies, Exclusive Agencies, Corrupted Politicians, … against the right of people in descent living, transportation, medication, education …
In 2013 and again in 2014, he stepped up and took the initiative to create two economic stimulus packages. While these packages may not have produced perfect results, their overall impact was clearly beneficial, and they included measures that the central bank governor initiated during times of need when political institutions were suffering paralysis
So unclear. he is a product political institutions.
More often than not over the past twenty years, when the country’s politicians have fought themselves into a stalemate, Salameh has stepped in to keep the country from collapse. Sometimes, he has appeared to be the prime minister, the minister of economy and the minister of finance at the same time.
when?
Salameh is not identified with a strong political interest or partisanship
you mean other than his strong relationship with Hariri Family?
As a regular participant in the international meetings of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund
Are these the criteria for choosing a country’s President?
Lebanon urgently needs a representative who can stand up to the big power players. As the country seeks to pick itself up and move forward again, Salameh offers the best hope of making Lebanon a true partner in the international community rather than a puppet of greater powers.
Really? Are you speaking about Riad Salemeh we know? or another one?
Lebanon does not require a superman, or a savior. It needs the most professionally qualified person for a challenging and often unappreciated position. Salameh is clearly the man for the job. He must make himself available and Parliament should vote him in.
I’m confused: are you looking for CEO or a President? It is previously mentioned: “The one candidate with the ability to reassert the position of the presidency is Riad Salameh, governor of Lebanon’s central bank for over two decades. This is not merely the opinion of this magazine”, what should we believe?
Can You Mr Jihad in that case present Your ideal candidate…. Should he be a former warlord so that we get more weapons smuggling in the country, and/or polarisation of the political process…. we dont need any zo3ama (leaders) with blood on their hands…. a very good solution for our country is to create different federal states ruled by a civic ruler for each area. Around 4 OR 5 main areas can be created whereby a civic and not military za3eem is elected from each “area” with a certain majority sect. Then each area will be allowed to issue separate passports. One for shia. One for sunni. One for druze. One for christians. Then when each sect has its own passport, then lets see who gets visa free access to all countries in the world and who gets restricted from visiting. The nation was and never will be a UNITED country in my eyes, and in the eyes of the world. Riad Salameh had the welfare of the whole country in mind when he forbid lebanese banks and institutions from investing in lehman-related products BECAUSE HE HAD THE INSIGHT THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG…. IT kept the Country as a whole Away from that disaster, and insulated it from the shock that most of the world experienced… in fact as EVERYONE KNOWS 2008 TO 2010 LEBANON EXPERIENCED A BOOM PERIOD, AND THE REST OF THE WORLD EXPERIENCED A RECESSION…. Instead of ACKNOWLEDGING THESE ACHIEVEMENTS, ALL YOU HAVE TO SAY IS TO SCRUTINISE THIS MAGAZINE’S OPINION??!! I TEND TO FAVOUR AND VALUE THEIR OPINION BECAUSE THEY KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THE WORLD…. AS FOR YOU JIHAD, YOUR COMMENTS REALLY SMELL IN A BAD WAY AND IT REFLECTS WHY SOMEONE LIKE MYSELF IS BY NOW FED UP OF LIVING IN THE “SAME” COUNTRY AS SOMEONE LIKE YOU WHO CANNOT SEE BEYOND HIS NOSE, AND MAY EVEN REPRESENT THE REASON WHY LEBANESE AS A WHOLE ARE NOT WELCOME BY OTHER COUNTRIES….. I CALL FOR SECT BASED PASSPORTS AS A NEW DIRECTION FOR EACH GROUP IN THE COUNTRY. EACH FEDERATED STATE (AREA) CAN REMAIN PART OF THE LEBANESE UNION TEMPORARILY OR EVENTUALLY BREAK AWAY IF THEIR “NEW CITIZENS” VOTE TO BREAK AWAY FROM THIS FAKE UNION EVENTUALLY. I BELIEVE IN GENERAL, A UNION IS THE BEST FOR A COUNTRY… HOWEVER IN LEBANON’S CASE THIS IS A FALLACY.. BE BRAVE AND KHALLEENA NIKHLAS…(LET’S DO IT AND FINALISE) EVERYTHING IN A CIVILISED WAY WITHOUT ARMS OR WEAPONS, SIT ON A TABLE AND GIVE EACH GROUP WHAT THEY NEED.. THANK YOU FOR LISTENING. AND KIND REGARDS…
